Pre-Conference Tutorial - 25th September 2000

For those delegates new to the subject, and wishing to maximise the benefits of attending the conference, a 1 day pre-conference Tutorial was presented by FANS Information Services on 25th September. It provided a thorough grounding on the ATN rationale, principles, technology, and current status.

Specifically, the tutorial covered the following topics: the ICAO CNS/ATM System Concept, the ICAO defined Operational Requirements for air/ground datalink applications (e.g. ADS, CPDLC), an overview of the ATN functionality and services, an overview of the principal air/ground datalinks ( VHF Digital Link, Aeronautical Mobile Satellite System (AMSS).
