The ATN2004 tutorial was the ideal place to bring yourself up-to-speed with developments in the Link2000+ programme and to learn about FANS-1 and IP convergence. During the morning there was a briefing on Eurocontrol’s Link2000+ programme. This covered services, systems and the deployment programme for ground and airborne systems over the next two to three years.
In the afternoon FANS-1/A and ATN convergence strategies were outlined and discussed. IP technologies was also described and convergence strategies with the ATN discussed.

The presenter of the tutorial was Tony Whyman. For the past 13 years, Tony has been working on ATN development for Eurocontrol. He has played a leading role in the development of the ATN Manual, ATN SARPs and Guidance Material. Tony has also been responsible for developing a scaleable architecture for supporting mobile routing world-wide, with policy based routing, advanced congestion management and prioritised traffic flows. He is currently involved in the specification of new ground systems for Eurocontrol Maastricht in support of Link2000+.
